Danish Legacy 2024
The #105 Dining Chair is a thing of simplistic beauty. An elegant homage to the great chairs that came before it – while still making its own mark in the Danish design legacy. It is reminiscent of a classic reading chair; light and elegant, yet sturdy and robust.
Longevity is a focal point in Hans Sandgren Jakobsen’s designs, and his chairs are designed and built to outlast us. Starting his career as a cabinet maker, the designer has a great affection for the craftmanship of chairmaking. Never compromising with the build quality, you will find little details of beauty from old fashioned craftmanship – like finger-jointing.
Hans Sandgren Jakobsen makes designs to improve the quality of life of whoever owns them. This is a chair built for comfort as well as beauty – and the #105 Dining Chair is extremely pleasant to sit in. The back allows for you to change positions, and the dimensions of the chair are aligned with what makes sense ergonomically.
The chair is designed to embrace its sitter; to provide a soothing comfort. It is a chair made for family meals and festive long evenings. It is a chair made for life.
Built for a lifetime – and beyond
The chair is made from solid wood with a twisting back piece, giving it the characteristic look and appeal that made it into a modern classic. The chair’s signature back piece is made from wood from the stump end of the tree – a much more flexible material allowing for the beautiful contortion.
Hans Sandgren Jakobsen designed the #105 Dining Chair with materials and longevity in mind. He set out to make a chair that can be passed down through generations – using as few resources as possible.
