Viper – ahead of its time
Designer Hans Sandgren Jakobsen, Danish Design Studio, is exhibiting the room divider “Viper” – knowing full well that it is a novelty with 25 years behind it.
It is precisely that long ago that he designed the room divider, which in many ways was far ahead of its time.
By exhibiting Viper at Circular Furniture Days, he hopes to revitalize the idea and interest manufacturers in resuming production.
It has quite a few circular qualities, as it is made of recycled cardboard mixed with residual products from the production of milk cartons, while the rest of the Viper is made of recycled plastic.
“Viper” consists of a series of oval cardboard tubes that are interconnected and can take on many different shapes. It can be moved around an office landscape, in a bank, at an exhibition, in a hotel lobby or anywhere else where a screen is needed. One moment like a rolled-up cylinder that you can take on the bus, the next moment a long, winding screen wall.
