Katholm manor was built around 1590 by Thomas Fasti. Today it is the fourth generation of Collet. Marie Therese Collet manages 1170 hectares of farmland and forest.
The forest around Katholm manor is from 1500, among the oldest forests in Denmark.
Today, the Katholm forest is run by close-to-nature forestry, where tree species that suit the individual location are used, and where management methods are used that ensure the forest’s climate and soil condition. Near-natural forestry is based on the forest’s natural processes, which involve the use of self-rejuvenation.
Forest warden Søren Stilling has carefully selected the trees approx. 50 – 70 years: Oak, Red Oak, Douglas and Thjua in the thinning process to give the other trees more space to grow older.
The local transport of the logs to the sawmill for diameter calibration and to CNC wood lathes.
No glue – the stools are too machined from fresh solid wood. The stools are then air-dried and some shrinkage cracks will occur naturally.
